Chapter 8
Gary, however, rejected me with red eyes,
“Rachel, I can agree to anything except divorce. I will break up with Linda for good. If you want my company, I will, arrange for a lawyer to transfer the shares to you in the next few days. I’ll give you anything as long as it’s not beyond
my power!”
That was the first time Gary spoke to me in such a humble tone.
I suddenly recalled how humble I used to be!
“So, begging someone who doesn’t love you to love you back is so annoying!” I thought.
At that moment, I finally understood why Gary was so impatient when I made a fuss in front of him.
I couldn’t imagine how happy I would have been if Mia hadn’t died, the baby in my belly had been safe, and Gary hadn’t tried to kill me.
I had been wanting Gary’s love for 20 years. But now, after I had lost everything, he took the initiative to offer me his
love.
But that meant nothing to me.
“What’s the point of him cherishing me now after my children are gone and I lost hope for him?” I wondered. Even if Gary showed me his heart right now, I wouldn’t be moved at all.
I just hoped it was Gary who died instead of my cute and sweet Mia!
“No need to say more. From the moment you ignored my pleas and left Mia on the beach, there was no chance for us to be back together!”
My words caused Gary great pain.
He pulled his hair again and again.
“Rachel, I really didn’t mean it. I didn’t expect it to be like this. If I had known it, I would never have left her there!”
