Chapter 216
Nichole was taken aback. Wasn’t Sophie just a stupid rich girl? How could the Russell family possibly trust Sophie to take over the entire Russell family enterprise?
“This can’t be possible. You must be mistaken!”
It just didn’t make any sense!–
Mr. Donny spoke earnestly, “Ms. Nichole, why would I lie to you? This news has already spread among our circles. Imight afford to offend the boss of Russell Entertainment, but I can’t afford to offend the boss of Russell Enterprises.”
Hearing Mr. Donny’s words, Nichole felt as if all her strength had been drained away.
Was Sophie taking over the entire Russell family under James‘ directive?
Nichole clenched her fists.
‘Sophie, even without any skills, you have a privileged background and could still rely on James and the Russell family to take a leading position at Russell Enterprises. But why? Why have I studied so hard for so many years, only to live like this?”
“Ms. Nichole, I hope you can understand.”
Mr. Donny had said as much as he could. Even if Nichole felt unjust, she could only leave with resentment at this moment.
In the office area, the employees who had previously fawned over Nichole now placed some snacks in front of Sophie.
“Miss, we were blind not to recognize your worth before. Please don’t take it to heart.”
“Yes, yes, actually, I’ve always admired you. It was just Ms. Nichole and Alexis who wouldn’t let us talk to you!”
“You’re so beautiful. Mr. Burke is blind for choosing Nichole over you.”
The female employees‘ approach didn’t bother Sophie. In the workplace, elevating and demeaning others was common.
Sophie looked up just in time to see Nichole walking out of Mr. Donny’s office.
Nichole’s face was sullen, and Sophie leaned back in her chair, enjoying the sight of Nichole’s darkened expression.
“Ms. Nichole!” The women were startled and quickly backed off. They didn’t want to offend Sophie, nor did they want to offend Nichole. “So, you’re satisfied now that I’m fired?” Nichole glared at Sophie.
Sophie said with a smile, “Your dismissal might be due to your lack of professional skills. What does that have to do with me?”
“Sophie, you’re only in charge of Russell Enterprises because of James. What right do you have to talk about my professional skills? Just you wait, I’ll show you I can climb to this position on my own merit!”
Nichole turned and left.
Sophie found these words laughably absurd. Everything Nichole had was because of James. There was nothing she had achieved on her own merit!
Even attending Eastwood College was an opportunity James had given her. Otherwise, Eastwood College would never mit someone of Nichole’s status.
Still, Nichole had the audacity to say such things in front of her.
Meanwhile, James received a call from Palm’s Jewels. Mr. Donny, on the other end, kept apologizing, and James, growing impatient, said coldly, “Speak, what’s the matter?”
