Chapter 395 The Plan
The next day, around noon.
Maggie slept in until the sun was high up, only to be jolted awake by a text message. She sluggishly lifted her heavy ann to bloc
the sunlight streaming in, feeling like she’d just crawled out of a grave.
Everything hurt, a dull ache spreading throughout her body.
From her throat to her arms, from her mouth to her legs, her mind felt fuzzy and sluggish, like thick goo.
Her eyes were probably still swollen, making it uncomfortable to open them.
Just the thought of Nathael’s antics from last night made Maggie feel furious, her fingers trembling with anger.
She tried to push herself up from the bed, but as soon as she exert any force, she sucked i of cold air.
a sharp breath
There was a deep bruise on her wrist, now turning purple, and the couple’s red string bracelet on her wrist couldn’t hide it at all.
“D’mmit!”
Maggie couldn’t help but mutter, feeling like her whole body was as heavy as lead.
Noticing Nathael wasn’t around, Maggie grabbed her phone from the bedside table and checked it.
It was a message from Mia: ‘Maggie, is Nathael home today? I want to swing by!
Maggie quickly replied: Just woke up. Let me see. I’ll get back to you soon.‘
After a quick freshen–up, feeling a bit woozy, Maggie headed to the living room. Probably hearing some noise, as a servant emerged from the kitchen.
“Ms. Adam, lunch is ready. Would you like to have something else?”
The servant was holding the tray, unsure whether to set it on the coffee table or in the living room.
Maggie was taken aback. Nathael didn’t like servants coming upstairs.
Though he had servants, they didn’t live here and they usually came to clean or prepare meals when their boss was away.
“Where’s Nathael?” she asked softly, her voice hoarse.
The servant caught a glimpse of the kiss marks on her leg, quickly averting her eyes and lowering her head as if following strict instructions not to pry.
“Mr. Harris has headed to the office. He mentioned your could reach him by phone if needed.”
Maggie couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle, finding Nathael somewhat naive.
Regardless of whether she initiated the breakup, considering his beastly behaviour last night, she had no

Just leave the food on the coffee table. Thank you,” Maggie said warmly, regaining her composure.
“Understood.
She walked up to the window and took a glance downstairs.
There were only four or five well–dressed men scattered around, but she suspected there were more lurking in the shadows.
“Is Nolan downstairs?” she asked the maid, who was about to head towards the kitchen.
“Mr. Nolan is on the ground floor, the servant promptly replied.
Maggie slipped on a long coat and grabbed the railing, planning to take a quick walk downstairs.
Nolan was lounging on the sofa, wearing a duckbill cap pulled low over his eyes.
Despite the cap, his face retained a youthful yet cold demeanour, giving off an air of fierceness.
“Ms. Adam,” he greeted briskly as he stood up, stepping aside.
Maggie took the opportunity to test the waters.
“I’m thinking of heading out for a bit.”
“You need to check with Mr. Harris,” Nolan replied bluntly, cutting off further discussion.
“Just for half an hour,” Maggie persisted, attempting to negotiate.
This time, Nolan stayed quiet, just lifting his eyes to meet Maggie’s. His face was blank without any expressions, clearly saying no.
Feeling a bit let down, Maggie tried again. “If Nathael won’t let me go out, can someone else come to visit mc?”
Nolan’s tone turned cold. “You need Mr. Harris‘ approval.”
Maggie clenched her teeth, unsure if Nathael would agree.
“I’m not feeling great, wanna swing by the hospital,” Maggie spoke up once more.
Nolan’s expression stayed the same as he repeated, “You can inform Mr. Harris.”
Maggie’s frustration boiled over. “Always Mr. Harris this, Mr. Harris that! What did Nathael offer you to make you follow him blindly like this?”
Nolan stayed silent.
He was poker–faced as he looked at Maggie. In his mind, he couldn’t shake off the unsettling feeling from the glance Nathael gave him this morning.
Unexpectedly, it sent shivers down his spine.
Nathael looked away, his tone chilly. “Don’t linger around her unless you have to.”

Nolan was taken aback for a moment, then replied, “Okay.”
“Speak less,” Nathael added, his expression still icy.
Nolan scratched his head, feeling puzzled. He couldn’t help but wonder if Nathael had mixed up his instructions, especially since Alex was usually the chatty one.
The young and handsome guy in front of him remained as silent as a log, showing no signs of wanting to speak up. Seeing this, Maggie chimed in. “Mia will drop by later. If you don’t let her in. I’ll just jump out of the window upstairs!”
Maggie wasn’t planning on giving Nathael a call, but Mia was bound to show up, so she had to figure out a
way to get out.
Nolan’s temple throbbed as he pictured the scene, his forehead creasing.
After Maggie walks away, he immediately calls Nathael.
Nathacl raised his hand to pause the person speaking in the meeting, listening to Nolan’s report. After at moment of silence, he said calmly, ‘Let her in.”
Around 2 in the afternoon, Maggie, having finished lunch, was lounging on the couch, zoning out in front of the TV, brainstorming escape plans.
Shortly after, the lively voice of Mia came through.
“Maggie, that freak Nathael has you locked up…
Mia had brought along a bunch of stuff and had plenty to say, but upon seeing Maggie, she was speechless.
Mia exclaimed, “Whoa!”
“Nathael is such a jerk. Look at what he’s done to you,” Mia said, placing the bought desserts to the side.
Maggie sighed. “With his character, he won’t let me off easy.”
“So, what’s your plan? Mia’s voice lowered slightly. Then she added, “But seriously, I don’t get it. You were doing fine. Why break up with him? Did he do something to tick you off?”
Maggie stayed silent for a moment. After a bit of thought, she decided to talk more with Mia later.
“I need you to come by more often these days. I’m thinking of teaming up with Lucas and Leo to see if I can escape.” Maggie slowly shared her plan in hushed tones.
“But… after that? Nathael practically runs the show in Aquapolis. How are you going to hide from him?”
Mia asked.
Maggie fell silent, then said slowly, “I’m thinking of crashing at the Adams‘ place for a bit.”
She didn’t plan to patch things up officially with Phillip and Fiona, but crashing there for a while wouldn’t hurt. With her brother watching her back and the ties she had with the Adams, Nathael wouldn’t dare go too far, unless he completely lost it and stopped caring about consequences.
