Maggie was on the verge of tears after hearing a few simple words.

“Ericko, I need some time before I can decide. Maggie said slowly.
Ericko frowned and asked gently, “Why?”
“I want to wait until the Camerons are completely bankrupt. Otherwise, I’m afraid they might harm my parents because of me.
Maggie offered a somewhat unconvincing excuse.
They’re already planning to harm Mom. Whether you go back to the Adams or not won’t change their minds. But I’m worried about you being alone out there. If something happens, I won’t be able to explain it to Mom and Dad. Ericko’s voice was gentle over the phone, but there was a hint of authority in it.
Everything was in chaos, and the Camerons‘ use of her as a pawn hadn’t been very effective; they had even faced repercussions because of it. Ericko’s biggest fear was Ronald seeking revenge on Maggie.
When people were pushed to their limits, they might resort to desperate measures.
Ill take some time to think about it, but I still want to settle things with the Camerons and talk to Mom and Dad calmly. Maggie expressed her reservations.
Though Ericko didn’t agree, he didn’t push the issue further since she had not severed ties with the Camerons yet.
After hanging up, Maggie felt the pressure in her heart increase. Dealing with both Nathael and Ericko was overwhelming.
In the evening, Nathael finished work early and planned to take Maggie out for a walk.
It wasn’t snowing on Christmas Eve, but the snow from yesterday remained, creating a festive atmosphere.
Nathael walked with Maggie as they strolled around the commercial street. Maggie bought a few clothes and two bags, but she couldn’t muster much enthusiasm.
“Are you feeling low?” Nathael asked, holding her hand.
“Not really, but whenever I think about the Camerons, I feel like human nature is wicked. It’s challenging my understanding and imagination,” Maggie spoke softly.
Nathael didn’t respond, but he held her hand tighter.

Maggie hesitated before turning to him. “What do you mean?”
“Like what will happen to the Camerons or us,” Nathael spoke slowly.
Maggie stood still, unable to speak for a moment. The dazzling commercial signs on both sides cast luxurious light and shadows, brightening the entire street.
Standing in the middle of the road. Maggie adjusted her gearf as she felt a lump in her throat.
She could hear the wind and snow, the festive laughter, and the cheerful music.
Yet, at that moment, it felt like there were only the two of them in the world. The world was bustling, yet strangely quiet.
I want to break up with you. The words were on Maggie’s lips, but she couldn’t say them.
Nathael didn’t rush her; he simply lowered his gaze and patiently listened.
After a while, Maggie raised her hand to tuck the wind–blown strands of hair behind her ear and said. softly. “We’ll always be together, always happy, despite the arguments and misunderstandings. We’ll face life together, and even in death, we’ll be buried next to each other.”
As Maggie spoke softly, every day of her past life seemed to flash before her eyes like a revolving lantern.
She knew that being too vague wouldn’t make him believe her.
This was just right.
Even though their love was painful and short–lived, Maggie realized that those moments with him were the true source of her happiness.
Nathael leaned in to kiss her softly and wrapped his arms around her.
“Nana, I’m always afraid that this could all just be a dream, and one day, it might all vanish.”
Maggie felt her throat constricting, her nose prickling with sadness.
She realized she hadn’t told him how much she loved him.
But now, she had to figure out how to end things with him and what reasons would convince him.
Ar home, Maggie fetched two red apples Nathael had picked out. She carefully washed them before sharing them with him while they watched TV together.
The apples were large, crimson, and incredibly delicious.
Though her eyes were on the screen, her mind wandered elsewhere as she ate the apple. My dear Mr. Harris, you must live well
Even if I’m not around, the sun will continue to rise and set as it always does.
And I’ll strive to live, to make the most of every moment, to extend my time with you as much as possible, even if it mpant being in a different bart of the world

Chapter 382 When Did You Start Having Feelings for Me
Snuggling close to Nathael, they watched a TV show where the characters went to see the sunrise together. Td like to do that too. Maggie whispered.
“Let’s go tomorrow, Nathael suggested.
Maggie didn’t want to trouble him further. She knew he often worked late just to spend time with her.
“Sure.” She agreed, closing her eyes, uncertain if they’d have another chance in the future.
“Nathael, Maggie murmured softly.
“Yeah?” Nathael noticed she seemed a bit weary, so he spoke gently, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere in the room.
“When did you start having feelings for me?” Maggie asked, her curiosity lingering from both this life and the past.
Nathael remained quiet for a while before answering, “A long time ago, back at Sunshine Orphanage.”
Maggie was taken aback for a moment, then she sat up and turned to face him. “You saw me at the orphanage?”
After narrowly escaping kidnapping by the Camerons‘ thugs and suffering an accident that erased her memory, Maggie ended up at the orphanage.
Given her young age and the trauma, it wasn’t surprising that she didn’t remember much, and someone kindly placed her there.
Later, when the Camerons‘ kidnappers tracked her down and confirmed her memory loss, Ronald decided to let Maggie stay at the orphanage for two years as they observed her and made sure she suffered a little before eventually adopting her.
They provided a completely different life for her, so she was deeply grateful to them.
But why don’t I recall seeing Nathael there?
“Are you telling me that you were visiting the orphanage representing the Harrises and fell in love with me instantly because of my beauty?” Maggie blinked, curious.
Nathael chuckled softly. “No, I was living at the orphanage too.”
“How’s that possible?”
Nathael explained slowly, “Uncle Charlie sacrificed himself to save me, and my extended family had. someone else take the blame for the ambush. But the real mastermind behind it all remained unknown. Later, my grandfather staged a kidnapping to protect me and secretly sent me to the orphanage.
“On one hand, it was for my safety, and on the other, it was to test people’s reactions and draw out the real culprits. Plus, he didn’t inform ipe about the kidnapping, so it was also a test and a form of training for

Maggie, never expecting suclf a revelation, was speechless.
She stared blankly, unable to match the vague memories in her mind.
