Chapter 130 She Is Willing
Vanessa’s cheeks flushed, then drained of colour, sensing a stark change in Maggie’s demeanour. It seemed- a deliberate effort to complicate matters for her.
Trapped inside the vehicle, Vanessa’s eyes appeared red and swollen, lending her a sorrowful expression as tears cascaded down her checks.
As Maggie noticed the tears streaking her cheeks, she plunged into profound contemplation.
It seems
tears at ere’s still something to glean from Vanessa. At the very least, she doesn’t possess the skill to shed
“Maggie, Vanessa and I both agreed to what happened between us. If you find it hard to accept, there’s no need to complicate things for her. If you’re upset, aim your emotions at me.”
Joseph’s words dripped with frostiness as he felt the weight of his duty as a man to confront the situation.
“You?” Maggie sneered at him and responded directly, “I have no interest in further interaction with you. Why would I blame you? Or perhaps you are willing to forsake everything for love and rush to Vanessa’s aid?”
Joseph frowned, saying firmly, “Don’t be obstinate. This isn’t the time for outbursts. The future of Luster Corporation hangs in the balance at this moment. We can delve into this matter further after we return.”
Witnessing his typical facade of hypocrisy, Maggie felt disgusted.
Stripped of the veil of childhood memories and the countless times he had come to her aid, Joseph meant nothing to her.
Being a designer, she upheld the utmost aesthetic standards.
At that instant, she came to the stark realisation that Joseph’s presence was utterly abhorrent to her.
“You’re overanalysing. I don’t harbour such a trivial grudge, especially towards you. The success of Luster Corporation is important, but your betrayal of emotions and open affairs is also significant. Have Mom and Dad instilled deceitfulness and duplicity in you all these years??
Maggie smiled, her crimson lips forming a sardonic curve as she spoke frankly.
Joseph’s countenance grew sombre, his discontent clearly visible.
“I know I was wrong in the past, but Maggie, it was you who turned me away. I’m just an ordinary man with desires.”
Whenever Joseph pondered on this matter, he experienced a sense of discomfort.
It resembled something he deemed his own, yet was barred from, sparking an unfulfilled longing. The sensation was undeniably vexing and discomfiting.
Maggie chuckled. “Those on the streets won’t refuse you. They’ll even lie down, ready to embrace you whenever you please.”
She paused, casting a meaningful glance at Vanessa, and then said, “And naturally, Ms. Brown won’t turn

A pair of morally bankrupt and shameless scoundrels, truly made for each other.
Vanessa’s lips tightened, her anger palpable.
She… she actually compared me to those streetwalkers!
“Alright, since you’re being irrational, don’t blame me for being straightforward. You’ve had Joseph’s attention for so many years. He’s been kind to you, but what about you? Are your feelings for him real now? Do you have any residual affection for him whatsoever?”
Maggie was speechless..
What absurdity is she uttering? Clearly, we are not in agreement.
“Sorry, I’ve never had any attachment to discarded refuse. As for back then, if he treated me well, it was because he was willing to. How about you? Wasn’t he as good to you?”
Maggie’s eyes held a captivating allure, while her curved crimson lips were tantalizing and bewitching. There was an indescribable sharpness to her, a cold beauty reminiscent of a thorny rose unfolding in the early morning after a rainstorm.
Evidently distant, yet unquestionably appealing.
Vanessa was on the brink of losing her composure. She couldn’t rival Maggie’s articulate speech, especially with Joseph there. She had to be cautious with her words, so how could she ever hope to compete with Maggie?
As they spoke, a call from Ronald came in. Joseph pushed aside his inner turmoil to answer the call.
“Dad.”
Ronald asked, “How’s everything? Are you almost there?”
Joseph glanced at the time and restarted the car. “Yeah, almost there.”
“Annie can be rather obstinate and challenging to connect with. If you manage to win her over, she’ll be very welcoming. But if you fail to impress her, things could get tough.”
“I understand.”
Ronald added, “Both Maggie and Vanessa are out too, but this time it’s primarily you and Vanessa. However, with more people, come more chances. If things don’t go smoothly, you two can strategise and ensure Annie’s support.”
“Dad, no need to fret,” Joseph reassured, with Vanessa adding. “Uncle, rest assured. I’ve done some research on Annie’s tastes beforehand. I’m acquainted with a variety of the jewelry styles she designs.”
Quietly, Maggie stared out the window, the charming European–style architecture evoking memories of Nathael Harris, whether she liked it or not.
Do normal men experience desires? What about Nathael?
Throughout all those years in my previous life, despite his protection, he never once made a romantic advance. Did he lack any desires?

Maggie couldn’t wrap her head around it. Had they truly spent the night together?
Suddenly, she remembered the room key card in her bag, and instantly, the entire bag felt like it was burning her hands
Sending a room key card, what does it mean?
She frowned slightly, feeling a pang of unease.
She wasn’t naive. She knew exactly what he desired. His dark eyes always conveyed a potent mix of restraint and hidden longing whenever they met hers.
Nathael longed to be with her, no matter the motive.
Reflecting on this, Maggie slowly closed her eyes, feeling an inexplicable sense of apprehension about the evening ahead.
In truth, if it were him, it appeared there was nothing she couldn’t embrace. Yet, she couldn’t shake off a sense of unease, gripped by anxiety and apprehension towards the unknown.
Considering it again, Joseph found it difficult to endure for only a year. How did Nathael maintain control?
Maggie couldn’t shake off a slight sense of regret, pondering that maybe it’s as simple as blinking, and it will fade away.
If that’s true, it might be best to grant his desire.
Maggie sighed deeply. It had been a long time coming, and deep down, she knew this day would arrive sooner or later. Mentally, she had braced herself for it.
The only lament was that it didn’t occur when their hearts were aligned. Nevertheless, if he desired it, she was willing to journey with him to paradise.
Following a brief conversation with Ronald, Maggie mulled over Nathael and decided against mentioning any discord between Vanessa and Joseph.
She gathered herself. Meanwhile, Vanessa and Joseph avoided revisiting the subject.
After all, regardless of other matters, when it came to this issue, even if they were to discuss it endlessly, they wouldn’t gain any advantage.
An hour later, the car stopped in front of a low–key yet magnificent jewelry store.
Maggie’s eyes fell upon the familiaf sign outside the window, and a soft smile graced her lips involuntarily.
Looks like it’s time to meet an old acquaintance.
In her past life, she had a strong bond with Annie. She had gone to great lengths to introduce her to the Camerons. However, this time, without her involvement, she wanted to observe Joseph and Vanessa’s capabilities firsthand.
