Chapter 13
We had been a couple, after all, so I said perfunctorily, “Take some medicine for yourself.”
He hung his head in disappointment.
After not seeing Gideon for several days, Bart was curious. “Where is your ex–boyfriend? He’s not coming to you?” I said, “Maybe he went back.”
When we were together before, he had no patience with me.
This time, he stayed here for more than ten days, which was a record.
Bart rubbed his arms and said, “Every time I go to your place for a meal, he seems to want to eat me alive.”
As a result, that afternoon, I received a call from Gideon’s sister.
“Ethel, Gideon was in a car accident at your place. I can’t get there for the time being. Could you please take care of him for a while?”
She spoke softly. I politely declined, “Sorry. I have no time.”
Valerie said coldly, “You’ve been dating him for so many years, and he got into a car accident because of you. How can you be so cold?”
“Does a relationship require after–sales service? I never asked him to come to me. Don’t force me.”
I hung up the phone and blocked her directly.
A few days later, Gideon came to me again with a cane.
“Ethel, can we have a meal together?”
I said, “No, I’m busy. Leave me alone.”
He eagerly grabbed me and said, “You won’t even have dinner with me? Do you really not want me anymore?”
I sighed, “Go back. We’re never getting back together.”
“Mary and I are no longer in touch. I will never have any contact with her again. Can you please come back?”
I pushed him away. “Gideon, this has nothing to do with others. I won’t date you.”
Gideon let go of my hand and looked at me blankly.
I looked at him. He saw the determination in my eyes.
His hands finally dropped.
He finally realized that there was no way he could get me back.
I waved to him.
I said goodbye to him and to myself.
I wouldn’t stay here waiting for anyone anymore.
At the intersection, Bart was holding the food. “Let’s go. Let’s go back and make a delicious meal.“ss
